HOUSTON -- Travis Bader scored 23 points, including a 3-pointer in the final minute to put Oakland ahead, and the Golden Grizzlies defeated Texas Southern 71-69 Tuesday night.
Bader, who was 7 for 12 from 3-point range, connected from behind the arc with 42 seconds left to give Oakland a 70-69 lead. Ryan Bass made a free throw for the Golden Grizzlies (2-3) and Texas Southern couldn't score at the end.
Corey Petros scored 18 points for Oakland. Raymond Penn led the Tigers (1-4) with 22 points, making 6 of 10 from 3-point range, while Fred Sturdivant had 16 points and 10 rebounds for TSU. The Tigers hurt themselves at the free-throw line, making just 5 of 13.
