CANCUN, Mexico -- Tom Tankelewicz made two free throws in the final seconds to give Western Carolina a 69-67 victory over Howard on Wednesday afternoon in the Cancun Challenge.
Tankelewicz scored 17 points, including two free throws to win the game at the 0.01 mark. He also made five 3-pointers.
Tawaski King led Western Carolina with 19 points. Trey Sumler scored 17 points and led the team in assists with six. Boggs added 11 and 5 rebounds. Western Carolina (2-4) shot 46 percent from the floor and 80 percent at the free throw line.
Simuel Frazier tied the game at 67 with a layup with .09 left in the game. After a timeout by Western Carolina, a foul was called on Frazier. Tankelewicz hit the free throws.
