ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Jeremy Atkinson scored 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists to lead UNC Asheville to an 85-51 rout over Montreat on Saturday.
Trent Myer scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half, and had eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-6), who snapped a six-game losing streak. Sam Hughes added 12 points.
UNC Asheville did not have much trouble with Montreat, an NAIA school. The Bulldogs went on a 13-0 run, capped by a dunk from Hughes to give them a 32-14 lead with 4:02 left in the first half.
UNC Asheville continued to increase its margin, leading by as many as 36 points in the second half. Meyer knocked down five of his six 3-pointers in the second half.
