KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Tevin Baskin scored 18 points and Appalachian State snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating UMKC 81-71 on Sunday.
Tab Hamilton had 17 points and Jamaal Trice, who made four 3-pointers, scored 16 for the Mountaineers (2-7), who hadn't won since beating Montreat of the NAIA in their opener on Nov. 9. Jay Canty had 12 points and a team-high six rebounds for the winners.
Appalachian State shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and 55 percent for the game. The Mountaineers also made their last 17 free throws.
