LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Mike Muscala turned in his seventh double-double of the season and Bucknell extended its winning streak to six games with a 71-65 nonconference win over Marist Wednesday night.
The Bison's 11-1 start is the program's best since beginning 12-0 in 1907-08.
Muscala scored 26 points, nabbed 13 rebounds and blocked five shots. The senior was 12 of 13 from the foul line and hit 7 of 15 from the field.
Joe Willman added 15 points for Bucknell.
Marist used a 13-2 run to lead 56-51 after Price's jumper with 8:51 left, but then Muscala scored six straight points to pull Bucknell ahead 57-56. Bowie hit two free throws for Marist, but then Bucknell's Cameron Ayers hit one free throw, Bryson Johnson made two more and Ayers drained a 3 to put the Bison up for good.
Former Kentucky guard Ed Davender, the only Wildcat with at least 1,500 points and 400 assists, has died. He was 49.
Guard Naz Mitrou-Long, whose 2015-16 season ended in December due to hip problems, has been granted a hardship waiver for the coming season, Iowa State said.
As the Sooners look to life without superstar Buddy Hield and his sidekicks, it's clear their unseasoned players will need to grow up fast.
