GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Alec Brown scored 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds and Green Bay went on to defeat South Dakota 72-55 on Saturday night.
Green Bay (5-7) shot 56.5 percent from the field, making 26 of 46 attempts including six 3-pointers and was 14 of 20 from the free-throw line.Brown scored Green Bay's first seven points to give the Phoenix a 7-2 lead early, but South Dakota (5-8) stormed back, going on a 15-4 run capped by a Brandon Bos jumper with 10:34 remaining in the first half to give the Coyotes a 17-11 lead.The Phoenix took over from there, outscoring South Dakota 24-8 to take a 35-25 lead at half time and never trailed again.Keifer Sykes and 17 points and eight assists while Sulton Muhammad had 10 points for the Phoenix. Trevor Gruis scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting to lead South Dakota.
