NEWARK, N.J. -- Brian Oliver came off the bench to score all 20 of his points in the first half and Seton Hall rallied in the game's final 10 minutes to defeat Stony Brook 60-59 Friday night.

The win was the sixth in a row for the Pirates (11-2), who were 6-0 in December. The Seawolves (8-4) lost their second straight.

Seton Hall led by nine points, 38-29, late in the first half, then saw Stony Brook take the lead in the second half before making a comeback of its own.

Stony Brook had a chance to win in the final seconds but bounced the ball out of bounds off Seton Hall players twice, then Anthony Jackson misfired from 17 feet as the buzzer sounded.

Besides Oliver's production, the Pirates received 14 points from Eugene Teague and 12 points and 10 rebounds from Brandon Mobley.

Dave Coley paced Stony Brook with 21 points, and Jackson, his backcourt mate, added 15.

The Seawolves led 18-8 with 14:27 remaining in the first half. Coley's outside shooting touch produced nine points in the first five minutes.

But Oliver gave the Pirates a huge lift. He first hit two consecutive 3-pointers that sliced the lead to 18-14, then made a steal and a layup that brought Seton Hall to within two at 18-16 with 12:56 remaining in the half.

After Jackson hit two long 3-pointers for Stony Brook, putting the Seawolves ahead 27-23 with 4:45 remaining, Oliver hit three straight 3-pointers. The second of those gave the Pirates a 29-27 lead and his fifth of the first half put the Pirates ahead 32-27 with 3:36 left.

Oliver, a Georgia Tech transfer whose previous Seton Hall high was 13 points, nailed his sixth 3-pointer of the half to give him 20 points and increase the Pirates' lead to 35-29 with 1:56 left. Tom Mayaan continued the 3-point barrage with a bomb from the corner that gave the Pirates their biggest lead of the game, 38-29, with 56 seconds left. Coley hit a lane jumper that cut the lead to 38-31 at the half.

Coley sparked Stony Brook's second-half comeback, scoring 10 points in a 16-6 run that put Stony Brook in front. His steal and layup gave the Seawolves a 47-46 lead with 12:13 remaining

Stony Brook increased the lead to five, 53-48, with 9:14 left on one free throw from Anthony Mayo. Stony Brook did not attempt a free throw in the first half.

With the Pirates trailing 55-51, they outscored the Seahawks 7-0 over a span of 1:38 to take the lead for good. Mobley came up big in that stretch, making two free throws and nailing a 3-pointer from the corner that gave Seton Hall a 58-55 lead.
