GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Lamont Middleton scored 19 points, including five free throws in the last 42 seconds, as North Carolina A&T edged Radford 81-77 Wednesday night.
The Aggies (6-9), who got a game-high 22 points from Adrian Powell, had two others in double figures: Bruce Beckford (15 points) and Austin Witter (10). But a big free-throw advantage gave North Carolina A&T the win.
The Aggies went 14 for 22 at the line. Radford (6-8) was just 4 for 8. Even YaYa Anderson's hot hand couldn't keep the Highlanders from falling.
Anderson scored 21 points. He hit 7 of 13 from the floor, including 5 3-pointers in 9 attempts beyond the arc.
Powell sank 1 of 2 foul shots with 9 seconds left, but Brandon Holcomb's dunk with 3 seconds remaining cut it to 79-77. But Holcomb had to foul on the inbounds pass, and Middleton made free throws with 2 seconds left.
