Northwestern State closed the first half with a 10-2 run, capped by Davis' 3-pointer with 2 seconds left to give it a 46-27 lead at halftime. The Demons led by as many as 31 points in the second half.
Hicks, a reserve who also had eight rebounds, led a Northwestern State bench that outscored the Cardinals 45-24. Lamar also did not score any fast-break points compared to the Demons, who had eight.
Stan Brown finished with 13 points and 14 rebounds for Lamar (2-12, 0-2).
