HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Stephen Lumpkins scored 22 points and Tony Wroblicky had his first double-double of the season as American University topped Colgate 72-63 Saturday in each team's Patriot League opener.
Lumpkins hit 8 of 12 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds, and Wroblicky had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Blake Jolivette added 16 points for the Eagles (6-10).
American jumped to an 8-2 lead on Lumpkins jumper with 17:26 left in the first half, and Colgate never pulled closer than three points after that. The Raiders trailed 59-56 with 4:28 left, but Daniel Munoz hit two free throws and a jumper to spark an 8-2 run and American cruised to the finish from there.
The Raiders committed just five turnovers but shot 37.5 percent (24 of 64).
