ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- Jon Nwannunu had 19 points and eight rebounds, Jeremy Atkinson contributed 18 points and eight rebounds and UNC Asheville beat Radford 79-61 in a Big South Conference game on Saturday.
Ya Ya Anderson led the Highlanders (7-10, 1-2) with 15 points, Javonte Green had 13 points to go with seven rebounds, and R.J. Price scored 10 points. Radford is 1-18 on the road in the Big South in the past two seasons.
The Bulldogs outrebounded (50-37) and outshot the Highlanders. UNCA hit 30 of 56 from the field, 4 of 8 from 3-point range and 15 of 22 from the foul line. Radford made 21 of 72 from the field, 5 of 26 on 3-pointers and 14 of 23 from the line.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
