WASHINGTON -- Pendarvis Williams paced Norfolk State with 17 points as the Spartans remained perfect in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 54-49 victory over Howard on Monday night.
Williams was 5-of-7 shooting, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and has scored in double figures in eight of his past nine games. Brandon Goode and Rob Johnson each added 12 points, with Johnson hitting 8 of 13 from the foul line for Norfolk State (9-10, 4-0).
The Spartans won despite 35.7-percent shooting (15 of 42), including 5 of 20 in the second half.
The Bison (4-14, 1-3) trailed 26-18 at halftime and never pulled closer than six points until Prince Okoroh's 3-pointer with 17 seconds left made it 52-47.
Okoroh led Howard with 15 points, and Tre Lee added 13. The Bison connected on 32.7 percent (17 of 52) of its shots, making only 3 of 12 from 3-point range.
