Johnson-Danner, who had six 3-pointers, scored 17 of his points in the first half when TSU (5-13, 4-1 SWAC) raced to a 50-20 halftime lead. Texas Southern shot 59 percent and had 20 field goals -- one more than Grambling State would finish the game with. Sturdivant had 10 points before the break.
Aaron Clyburn added 12 points for Texas Southern while Ray Penn had 10 points and 14 assists and Omar Strong also scored 10 points.
TSU shot 54 percent for the game and Grambling shot 39 percent.
