NORFOLK, Va. -- Manny Atkins scored 21 points and R.J. Hunter added 20 as Georgia State led wire-to-wire in a 69-54 win over Old Dominion on Saturday night.
Devonta White added 15 points and tied a career high with seven assists for the Panthers (8-11, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association). James Vincent tied a career high with 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks.Although Georgia State held the Monarchs nearly 11 minutes with just one field goal in the first half, Old Dominion made up for it with 11-of-18 free throw shooting. Hunter's buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave the Panthers a 29-25 lead.Georgia State expanded its advantage to 12 with 6:47 left. After the Monarchs got to 57-51 with 5:11 to go, the Panthers closed the game on a 12-3 run.Dimitri Batten's 14 points led Old Dominion (2-16, 0-6), which has lost six straight since stunning Virginia 63-61 on Dec. 22.
