Florida Atlanta led 30-25 on Gantt's two free throws 2:07 into the second half, but North Texas caught the Owls at 39-all on Tony Mitchell's dunk with 7:48 left. It was close the rest of the way.
North Texas' P.J. Hardwick made two free throws for a 55-53 advantage 21 seconds into overtime, and Florida Atlantic never caught up. Hardwick's free throw with 21 seconds left gave North Texas the final margin.
