WASHINGTON -- John Schoof scored a career-high 27 points, all but three coming on 3-pointers, to lead American University to a 72-49 rout of Navy Wednesday night in Patriot League play.
Schoof's eight 3-pointers were a personal career high and one shy of the American single-game record.
The Eagles (7-12, 2-2) closed the first half on a 13-6 run to lead 33-23 at halftime. American then opened the second half on a 15-6 spurt, nine of those points coming on three more 3-pointers by Schoof. He hit his eight 3-pointers in 10 attempts beyond the arc, 9 of 12 overall from the field.
Navy (7-13, 1-3) got early double-figure scoring from Kendall Knorr but little else. He scored 11 points, the only Midshipman in double figures. No one else scored more than seven points.
For American, Stephen Lumpkins scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds.
Navy was 4 of 16 on treys.
