HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Allan Chaney scored 19 points and John Brown added 17 as High Point cruised to a 96-69 win over Virginia Military Institute on Wednesday night in Big South Conference action, snapping a seven-game losing streak in the series.
The Panthers (9-9, 4-2), who had not beaten the Keydets since March 1, 2008, trailed 18-17 when they launched a 17-2 run to pull away.
High Point led 53-39 at the half and by as many as 35 in the key early matchup in the league's North Division.
The Panthers dominated inside, outscoring the Keydets 58-28 in the paint.
Chaney was 8 of 13 from the field and Brown 7 of 10 for High Point, which shot 58.6 percent (41 of 70) compared to 43.1 percent for VMI (25 of 58).
Stan Okoye's 13 points led VMI (9-9, 4-2).
