PROVO, Utah -- Matt Carlino scored a season-high 28 points -- two short of his career high -- and dished out six assists Saturday night as BYU snapped Santa Clara's five-game winning streak with a 96-79 victory.
The Broncos stayed close throughout the first half, but the Cougars came alive after halftime, outscoring Santa Clara 49-33 and leading by as many as 23.
The winning point total was one shy of the season high for the Cougars, who entered the game with the second-most total points in Division I.
