STATESBORO, Ga. -- Eric Ferguson hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 13 seconds left and Georgia Southern held on to edge Chattanooga 59-57 Saturday night in Southern Conference play.
The Eagles (10-13, 4-6) saw a 21-point second-half lead disappear as the Mocs took their first lead of the game on two free throws by Gee McGhee with 40 seconds remaining.
Georgia Southern called timeout to set up Ferguson's shot, with Brian Holmes getting the assist. Following timeouts by each team, McGhee missed a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left, and the Eagles rebounded.
Georgia Southern dominated the first half, leading 36-23 at the break.
C.J. Reed led the Eagles with 19 points and five assists, while Ferguson had 16 points and three steals.
