DOVER, Del. -- Jeremy Ingram scored 20 points to lead North Carolina Central to a 54-43 win over Delaware State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday, the Eagles' eighth consecutive victory.
The winning streak ties the eight-game run from the 1996-97 season.
Stanton Kidd had 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles (14-7, 7-0).
The Eagles shot 53.8 percent from the field (21 of 39) and outrebounded the Hornets 32-21. The Hornets shot 19 of 50 from the field.
North Carolina Central also outshot Delaware State from the foul line, hitting 9 of 14 to Delaware State's 3 of 12.
The Eagles outscored the Hornets 30-22 in the paint and 12-2 on fast-break points.
The Big 12/SEC Challenge will again feature Kansas and Kentucky, this time at Rupp Arena. That's not the only exciting matchup in next season's midseason conference showdown.
Northwestern has never made the NCAA tournament, but the Wildcats' upward trajectory suggests 2016-17 could finally be the season it happens.
Dillon Brooks, who led Oregon with 16.7 points per game last season, and Tyler Dorsey will opt out of the NBA draft process and return to the Ducks, sources told ESPN.
