POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Jonathan Thompson matched his season high with 23 points as Rider escaped Marist with a 64-58 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory Sunday.
Thompson was 9-of-11 shooting for the Broncs (12-12, 7-5), including a 5-of-6 performance from 3-point range. Rider hit 7 of 17 from deep and 44.4 percent (24 of 54) overall.
Chavaughn Lewis scored 24 points for the Red Foxes (5-18, 2-10), and has scored at least 23 points in three straight. The sophomore also had five assists and five steals as Marist lost its fourth in a row and 12th in its past 13.
Rider's Anthony Myles snapped a 47-47 tie with a 3-pointer with 9:48 left, sparking a 7-1 run that put the team ahead to stay.
The Broncs dominated the glass with a 37-24 rebounding advantage.
