CLINTON, S.C. -- Eric Washington led four Presbyterian players in double figures with 13 points as the Blue Hose snapped a two-game losing streak and beat Gardner-Webb 57-54 in Big South Conference action Wednesday night.

Presbyterian (6-18, 3-7) trailed 49-41 with 9 minutes left, but rebounded with a 14-3 run, taking a decisive 53-52 lead on Joshua Clyburn's jumper with 2:41 remaining.

Washington added five assists while Jordan Downing had 11 points and Ryan McTavish and Khalid Mutakabbir had 10 each.

Tashan Newsome, the reigning Big South Player of the Week, had 23 points for the Bulldogs (13-11, 5-5). The senior is averaging 23.7 points over his past three games.

Gardner-Webb had won consecutive road Big South games after snapping an 11-game conference road losing streak on Jan. 26.

The Bulldogs' Kevin Hartley had made 27 of his last 42 3-point attempts, but was 1-for-6 shooting from deep on Wednesday.
