MACON, Ga. -- Bud Thomas scored 12 points, dished out six assists and Mercer played a strong second half to rout North Florida 64-44 on Saturday.
Travis Smith finished with 13 points and Daniel Coursey added 12 points for the Bears (16-9, 9-3 Atlantic Sun), who won their fourth straight game.Mercer took a 29-26 lead into halftime. But shortly after the break, the Bears went on a 16-4 run that was capped by Jakob Gollon's layup with 14:05 left to play.Mercer continued to cruise from there, as the Ospreys came no closer than 11 points the rest of the way. The Bears took their largest lead at 58-38 on a fast-break dunk by Thomas, who also had four steals.Travis Wallace and Andy Diaz each scored 10 points for North Florida (10-16, 5-8), who had its two-game winning streak snapped.
