HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Will Bond scored 12 points, leading four men in double figures and Sam Houston State rolled past Lamar 78-40 on Saturday.
The 78 points was a season high for the Bearkats (13-10, 6-5 Southland). Sam Houston is 12-0 in games in which it has held opponents to less than 60 points.
Sam Houston never trailed, leading at half 31-20 and by as many as 40 points in the second period.
The Bearkats shot a season-best 54.2 percent from the field (32-of-59) and limited the Cardinals to 30.2 percent shooting.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
