ATLANTA -- Manny Atkins scored 13 points and Georgia State allowed a season-low in points in a 61-43 victory over Hofstra Wednesday night in Colonial Athletic Association.
The Panthers (13-14, 8-6), trailing 10-4, scored 16 consecutive points to lead 28-19 at halftime. They extended their lead to 43-25 midway through the second half and coasted home against Hofstra (6-19, 3-9).
Georgia State, which also got 11 points apiece from Devonta White and center James Vincent (5 for 5 from the floor), forced 22 Hofstra turnovers -- 14 on steals -- and turned those turnovers into 31 points. The Panthers also hounded Hofstra into 29-percent shooting from the field (12 of 41).
Stevie Mejia was the only player in double figures for the Pride. He posted his first career double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. No one else scored more than six.
Atkins just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
Maryland point guard Melo Trimble, considered a lock to leave the program before struggling in the second half last season, has withdrawn from the NBA draft and will return for his junior season.
Louisville's Chinanu Onuaku, who recently underwent a medical procedure to correct a heart rhythm issue detected during the combine, will keep his name in the NBA draft pool.
Andrew White III will return to the Nebraska men's basketball team next season after removing his name from the NBA draft.
