HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Dwayne Davis scored 21 points to lead Southern Mississippi to a 71-60 victory over Tulane in a Conference USA game Wednesday night.
Jerrold Brooks had 14 points for Southern Miss (19-6, 8-2), which had dropped two straight after opening the conference season with seven consecutive victories.
Southern Miss shot 54.3 percent from the field (25 of 46) to Tulane's 44.7 percent (21 of 47).
Southern Miss led 31-21 at halftime and pushed it to 41-25 on Cedric Jenkins' jumper with 14:28 left. Tulane tied it at 44-all midway through the second half and led 55-53 on a jumper by Josh Davis, but the Golden Eagles' 15-3 run made it 68-58 to put the game away.
