EDINBURG, Texas -- Justin Leathers scored 16 points, leading four Texas-Pan American players in double figures, and the Broncs defeated Cal State Bakersfield 79-73 in overtime Thursday night.
Aaron Urbanus had 14 points, Jesus Delgado scored 13 and Brandon Provost added 12 points for Texas-Pan American (13-13), which is 9-1 at home this season. The Broncs trailed by nine points -- their biggest deficit of the night -- with less than 5 minutes to play, but scored the last nine points of regulation to tie it at 63.
It was a nonconference game but both schools will be playing in the Western Athletic Conference next season.
The second annual Gavitt Tipoff Games, eight games between members of the Big East and Big Ten to be played Nov. 14-18, will feature Villanova at Purdue in the opener.
