CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Anthony Campbell hit five 3-pointers and scored 24 points as Austin Peay snapped an eight-game losing streak, beating Eastern Illinois 71-64 Thursday night.
The Governors (6-20, 2-10 Ohio Valley), who had lost 16 of their past 17 games, also got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Chris Horton.
Austin Peay led 28-18 at halftime and opened the second half with nine straight points on a layup by Will Triggs, two baskets from Horton and a 3-pointer by Campbell. The Governors extended the lead to 46-24 after back-to-back 3s by Campbell and Jeremy Purvis with 13:08 remaining.
Campbell was 5 for 7 on 3-point attempts, helping Austin Peay go 9 for 17 beyond the arc.
A 13-2 run brought the Panthers within 61-55 with 1:05 left, but the Governors hit 10 of 12 free throws the rest of the way.
