ST. LOUIS -- Cody Ellis scored 18 points, including three 3-pointers, off the bench to help Saint Louis to its seventh consecutive victory, 76-58 over Charlotte on Saturday night.
The 49ers stayed close through most of the first half, but the Billikens closed on a 10-2 run to lead 37-28 at halftime. Charlotte could pull no closer than five points down in the second half.
Saint Louis stayed a half-game behind VCU, which beat George Washington 84-57, for the conference lead. The teams play at Saint Louis on Tuesday.
