NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Martin Smith had career highs with 30 points and 10 rebounds, and Stephen Hurt added 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Lipscomb to an 84-74 upset of Florida Gulf Coast in an Atlantic Sun Conference game Saturday night.
Florida Gulf Coast (19-9, 11-4) had won seven consecutive games. The Eagles' most recent loss was 87-78 to Lipscomb in overtime on Jan. 17.
Deonte Alexander added 14 points for the Bisons (10-15, 5-9), who had lost four of five coming in.
Trailing 34-30 at halftime, Lipscomb tied at 44-44 on Alexander's layup 4:33 in and finally took the lead for good at 63-61 on Hurt's jumper with 5:33 remaining. Hurt hit another jumper to make it 75-67 with 1:18 left.
