IRVINE, Calif. -- Daman Starring had 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists to lead UC Irvine in a rout over Cal State-Fullerton 86-66 on Saturday night.
UC Irvine led 14-12 with 10:21 to go in the first half but back-to-back 3-pointers by Starring sparked a 24-12 run to give the Anteaters a 38-24 lead at halftime and they never looked back.
Adam Folker scored 18 points, Alex Young chipped in with 16 points and seven assists and UC Irvine (13-13, 7-6 Big West) shot 51.5 percent from the field including 11 3-pointers while recording 26 assists as a team.
Will Davis II chipped in with 10 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Anteaters, which led by as many as 31 points in the second half.
James Douglas had 14 points in 25 minutes off the bench to lead Cal State-Fullerton (12-12, 5-7).
The guard prospect was one of the top players at the annual Spiece Run N Slam event.
