DAVIS, Calif. -- Corey Hawkins had 31 points on 9-of-12 shooting including six 3-pointers and UC Davis defeated Cal State-Northridge 73-61 on Saturday night.
Hawkins added six rebounds to his point total and was 7 of 9 from the free-throw line. With 6:54 remaining in the first half and tied at 25, Hawkins hit two 3-pointers and a layup during a 14-1 run by UC Davis (11-13, 7-6 Big West) to take a 39-26 lead at halftime.
Cal State-Northridge (13-14, 4-11) responded with a 15-2 run to begin the second half capped off by Josh Greene's 3-pointer to tie it at 41, but Ryan Howley hit a layup to give the Aggies the lead right back and they never trailed again.
Howley had only six points but grabbed 12 rebounds.
Stephan Hicks had 17 points to lead the Matadors and Greene finished with 12 points and eight assists.
