STONY BROOK, N.Y. -- Anthony Jackson scored 14 to lead five players in double figures and Stony Brook thrashed America East Conference-foe Maryland-Baltimore County 83-39 Tuesday night.
UMBC built a 20-14 lead, but Stony Brook outscored the Retrievers 33-9 over the next 9:52 to take a commanding 47-29 advantage into the break. The Seawolves made 12 of 16 shots during the run and hit four 3-pointers.
Stony Brook (20-6, 11-2) pushed its lead to 40, 75-35, in the second half on a fast-break layup from Tommy Brenton.
The Seawolves, who also defeated UMBC 67-60 Jan. 23, shot 51.7 percent (30 of 58) while holding the Retrievers (6-20, 4-9) to 26 percent (15 of 57) and forcing 17 turnovers.
Ryan Cook paced UMBC with 15 points.
