CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Mathiang Muo scored a season-high 23 points and Arlon Harper had 21, and Charleston Southern shot 59.3 percent from the field to rout Virginia Military Institute 92-69 Thursday night.
Jeremy Sexton had 19 points and Sheldon Strickland 11 for the Buccaneers (16-9, 11-3 Big South), who made 35 of 59 from the field and 14 of 24 on 3-pointers with Muo hitting 7 of 8. The Bucs won their third straight.
Leading 7-5 early, the Buccaneers went on a 12-2 run for a 19-7 advantage with 13:11 left in the first half. The Keydets closed to five, 26-21, but the Buccaneers led 50-40 at halftime.
Charleston Southern scored the first eight points of the second half and pulled away.
