PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Matt Sullivan scored 16 points to lead Brown to a 59-50 win over Dartmouth on Saturday.
Sean McGonagill scored 13 points and dished out seven assists for the Bears (10-14, 4-6 Ivy League), who snapped a two-game winning streak. Tucker Halpern pitched in with 12 points, and Rafael Maia had a game-high 13 rebounds -- even though Dartmouth outrebounded Brown 39-35.
The Bears, who led by 16 points in the first half, had their lead cut to six points with 2:54 left to play when Dartmouth's Connor Boehm scored on a layup. But Sullivan knocked down a 3-pointer and made two free throws during a 9-2 run to give Brown enough cushion for the victory.
Guard Naz Mitrou-Long, whose 2015-16 season ended in December due to hip problems, has been granted a hardship waiver for the coming season, Iowa State said.
As the Sooners look to life without superstar Buddy Hield and his sidekicks, it's clear their unseasoned players will need to grow up fast.
