PORTLAND, Ore. -- Kevin Foster moved to No. 2 on the all-time West Coast Conference scoring list and Santa Clara won its 20th game of the season, defeating Portland 75-63 on Saturday.
Foster scored 20 points to give him 2,211 in his career, surpassing Loyola Marymount's Terrell Lowery (2,201, 1988-92). Foster also tied the school record for career starts (116) and career field goals (712), while Raymond Cowels III and Marc Trasolini tied the school record for career games played (128).
Cowels and Trasolini scored 17 points apiece for Santa Clara (20-9, 8-6 West Coast), and Yannick Atanga had a career-high 16 rebounds.
Santa Clara led by as many as 20 points in the first half before taking a 44-30 lead into the break. Portland got within 57-52 with 6:25 remaining before Trasolini answered with two straight baskets for the Broncs.
Ted Kapita was the top-rated recruit from West Virginia in the class of 2015 and recently played at DME Academy in Florida.
With the Suns drafting Tyler Ulis, they now have five guards on their roster who attended Kentucky.
