BATON ROUGE, La. -- Malcolm Miller made five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points to lift Southern University over Alcorn State 61-48 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup Saturday.

Javon Mitchell had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Yondarius Johnson added 11 points for Southern (20-8, 14-2), which posted 20 wins for the first time since 1998-1999, and finished undefeated at home for the first time since 2005-2006.

On top 46-44 with 5 minutes to play, Southern pulled away with a 13 unanswered points to take a 59-44 lead with just 1:01 remaining. Miller sparked the run with back-to-back 3-pointers.
