HAMILTON, N.Y. -- Tony Johnson scored 17 points to lead five Lafayette players in double figures as the Leopards held off Colgate 80-67 Wednesday night to win their fourth straight game and sweep the season series.
The Leopards (16-14, 9-4 Patriot League), who limited the Raiders to their lowest output of the season in a 69-40 win on Jan. 30, shot 59.3 percent in the first half (16 of 27) to lead 41-31.
The Raiders (11-19, 5-8) pulled within three points on four occasions in the second half, the last time at 66-63 with 4:53 left, but could get no closer.
Murphy Burnatowski, whose 24 points -- including five 3-pointers -- led the Raiders, was the only Colgate player to score more than six points.
Ted Kapita was the top-rated recruit from West Virginia in the class of 2015 and recently played at DME Academy in Florida.
With the Suns drafting Tyler Ulis, they now have five guards on their roster who attended Kentucky.
NBA fans will be looking forward to their newest players making plays like this next season.
