FULLERTON, Calif. -- J.T. Adenrele scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, helping UC Davis hold on for a 71-68 victory at Cal State-Fullerton on Saturday night.
Adenrele was 10 of 14 from the floor. Corey Hawkins added 16 points, including two free throws in the closing seconds, for the Aggies (14-14, 9-7), who assured themselves no worse than the No. 6 seed in the Big West Conference tournament. UC Davis leads seventh-place Fullerton by three games with two to play.
Kwame Vaughn tied his season high with 29 points in his final home game for the Titans (14-15, 6-10), and the senior went over 1,000 points for his career. Alex Harris chipped in 15 points for Fullerton.
Vaughn's free throws put Fullerton ahead 66-65 with 3:08 left, but Adenrele's jumper gave Davis the lead back before Tyler Les and Hawkins made two free throws apiece to seal the victory.
