LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- John Gillon scored 24 points and Arkansas-Little Rock moved up to the No. 4 seed in the Sun Belt Conference after defeating Arkansas State 78-71 Saturday.
The Trojans (17-14, 11-9 Sun Belt) will get a first-round bye in the conference tournament and then play fifth-seeded Florida International on March 9 in Hot Springs, Ark. Little Rock and Florida International split their two games this season.
Arkansas State (18-11, 12-8), by winning the West Division of the Sun Belt, carries the No. 2 seed into the conference tournament and on March 9 will face the winner of the first-round game between No. 7 Florida Atlantic and No. 10 Troy.
Leroy Isler added 13 points in Saturday's win for Little Rock, which improved to 13-3 at home this season by making 29 of 35 free throws.
