ELON, N.C. -- Lucas Troutman scored 25 points and Elon shot 56.5 percent from the field to defeat UNC Greensboro 80-66 in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Ryley Beaumont had 14 points and nine rebounds, Sebastian Koch scored 12 and Tanner Samson 10 for the Phoenix (20-10, 13-5 Southern Conference), who won the North Division. Troutman made 9 of 13 from the field, and Elon hit 26 of 46 and also made 23 of 28 from the foul line.
Kayel Locke had 13 points, Trevis Simpson and Kelvin McNeil scored 11 each -- McNeil had 14 rebounds -- and Drew Parker scored 10 for the Spartans (8-21, 6-12), who have lost three in a row. The Spartans shot 39.7 percent (23 of 58).
The Spartans closed to 38-37 on Simpson's free throws with 16:26 left, but Troutman's jumper made it 59-49 with 8:24 remaining as the Phoenix pulled away.
