HAMPTON, Va. -- Ramon Mercado scored 18 points and three others scored in double figures to help Hampton rally and beat Florida A&M 77-68 Saturday, snapping the Rattlers two-game winning streak.
Markee Teal paced Florida A&M (8-20, 5-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Association) with 22 points and 11 rebounds. The Rattlers leading scorer Jamie Adams was held to 3-of-13 shooting but still managed 20 points behind 14-of-17 free throw shooting.
Florida A&M opened on a 15-7 run, but Mercado hit three 3-pointers over the next 8 minutes as Hampton (13-15, 10-4) went on top 23-21. The Rattlers hit a free throw to cut it back to one but Aaron Austin made a layup, Wesley Dunning converted a 3-pointer and Meikle hit two free throws to send Hampton into the break up for good, 30-23.
