NEWARK, N.J. -- Chris Flores scored 21 points to lead New Jersey Institute of Technology to a 69-58 victory over Houston Baptist Saturday.
The Highlanders (16-11, 6-1 Great West Conference) ended Houston Baptist's eight-game winning streak that included a 66-57 win over NJIT on Feb. 2. Flores led the Highlanders to their fifth consecutive win, seventh in eight games. Flores, NJIT's leading scorer, hit 7 of 17 from the field, making 2 of 7 3-pointers and all five foul shots. P.J. Miller added 17 points.
NJIT broke a 26-26 halftime tie, outscoring Houston Baptist (12-15, 3-4) 43-32 after intermission.
Art Bernardi, who scored 22 points in that earlier win over NJIT, finished with just eight points this time and 11 rebounds.
NJIT won it at the foul line, making 26 of 34. Houston Baptist was 12 of 22.
