OREM, Utah -- Jason Johnson scored 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and grabbed five rebounds to lead Utah Valley past Chicago State 76-69 on Saturday night.
Tied at 47 with 11:21 remaining in the game, Utah Valley (14-16, 3-5 Great West) used a 21-5 run over the next 6 minutes capped off by a Ben Aird jumper which gave the Wolverines a 68-52 lead and they never looked back.
Aird finished the night with 23 points including a 7 for 9 mark from the free-throw line and grabbed eight rebounds. Nick Thompson scored only five points for Utah Valley, but grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists.
Chicago State scored 25 points off 15 Utah Valley turnovers and outscored the Wolverines' bench 35-9.
