Utah St. 77, Texas St. 61

LOGAN, Utah -- Spencer Butterfield scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds to lead Utah State past Texas State 77-61 on Thursday night.

Neither team could hold onto the ball very long, committing 19 turnovers apiece, but that didn't seem to bother the Aggies which took a 34-15 lead at halftime and led by as many as 26 points midway through the second half. Utah State (20-9, 10-7 WAC) scored 23 points off turnovers compared to seven for the Bobcats.

Jarred Shaw had 15 points and 10 rebounds while Ben Clifford added 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and four blocks for the Aggies.

Utah State shot 41.4 percent from the field and was 24 of 30 from the free-throw line.

Vonn Jones scored a career-high 19 points including five 3-pointers for Texas State (9-21, 4-13). Phil Hawkins had nine points and eight assists.
