CONWAY, Ark. -- Anthony Borden's put-back basket as time expired in overtime -- his team's second buzzer-beating shot of the day -- gave Central Arkansas an 86-84 victory against Oral Roberts on Saturday.
Jarvis Garner scored 34 points for the Bears (13-16, 7-11 Southland Conference), and his three-pointer as the clock hit zeroes in regulation tied the game at 75-all and forced the extra session. Robert Crawford added 18 points and LaQuentin Miles 12 points and seven rebounds.
Borden finished with eight points, six rebounds and five blocked shots.
Garner hit six 3-pointers for Central Arkansas, which clinched the No. 7 seed in the conference tournament and will play sixth-seeded Sam Houston State on Wednesday in Katy, Texas. The winner of that game will play No. 3 seed Oral Roberts (18-13, 13-5) in Thursday's quarterfinals.
Is there a link between recruiting wins and success? Kentucky and LSU are among teams that have recruited well, but haven't reached their expectations.
Purdue junior forward Vincent Edwards, who has averaged 19.0 points in the NCAA tournament, has decided not to pursue the NBA for now.
Kansas-Kentucky is not only the headliner of the Big 12/SEC Challenge but arguably the most intriguing. We rank all the games in the January event.
