GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Scott Wood had 23 points and seven 3-pointers to help North Carolina State beat Virginia 75-56 on Friday in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament quarterfinals.
C.J. Leslie added 17 points and 11 rebounds with three blocks for the fifth-seeded Wolfpack (24-9), who blew the game open after halftime and led by double digits nearly the entire second half for a second straight quarterfinal win against the fourth-seeded Cavaliers (21-11).More from ESPN.com

ACC Tournament
Around Champ Week
Player of the Game: NC State's Scott Wood led the Wolfpack with 23 points on 7-for-12 3-point shooting. His three straight 3-pointers during NC State's 11-4 second-half-opening run gave the Wolfpack a 41-25 cushion.
X factor: Wolfpack big man Richard Howell suffered a thigh injury in the second half, but he returned after a few turns on a stationary bike. And although he was hurting -- holding his wrapped leg and limping as he ran up and down the court -- he continued to scrap in the lane, finishing with 12 rebounds (six in the second half) and six points (all in the second half), and showing why he was named first-team All-ACC.
That was possibly the final nail: At the beginning of the day Friday, ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi projected Virginia as a No. 12 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament, and this loss adds to the conundrum for the tournament selection committee. Although the Cavs boast quality wins over Duke, NC State, UNC and Wisconsin, they also have seven losses to teams outside of the RPI top 100, including to three CAA teams (George Mason, Delaware and Old Dominion) and to four of the ACC's worst (Georgia Tech, Boston College, Wake Forest and Clemson). And they've lost three of their past four games.
