BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Alex Harris scored 20 points for first year head coach Dedrique Taylor as Cal State Fullerton easily handled Montana State 84-55 in a season opener for both teams on Saturday night.
Fullerton returned two starters from a year ago, added eight new players and was expecting a difficult transition under Taylor -- a former assistant at Arizona State.
The Titans did not miss a step shooting 54 percent from the field and a whopping 50 percent from beyond the 3-point line on 18 attempts. Harris made 8-of-13 baskets and Michael Williams pumped in 14 points for the Titans. Marquis Home was perfect from beyond the arc (3-for-3), scoring 13 points.
Montana State, with a more experienced returning crew, shot only 34 percent from the field and was off the mark on three-pointers hitting just 2-of-20. Paul Egwuonwu and Flavien Davis had 10 points each for the Bobcats.
