BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Javonte Maynor scored 21 points and Cal State Bakersfield survived a scare from Idaho State, winning 71-69.
Maynor was 7 of 10 from the 3-piont mark accounting for all of his points. CSUB shot 50 percent from the field, matching their season average.
The Roadrunners (4-1) led at half 43-36, but Idaho State (2-2) had other ideas in the second half, scratching back to a 56-55 lead with 7 minutes left. A couple timely 3-pointers by Maynor helped put Bakersfield back on top, leading 68-61 with 3 minutes to play.
The Bengals once again narrowed the gap trailing by two with 18 seconds to go before a turnover gave the ball to CSUB. The Bengals were forced to foul and the Roadrunners made both free throws putting the game out of reach.
