LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Addison Spruill went 4-for- 4 from the free throw line and scored six points in the final 28 seconds as UNC-Wilmington held off Liberty 87-76 Monday night.
After John Caleb Sanders hit a pair of free throws to pull Liberty (1-3) within five 79-74 with 31 seconds left, the Flames fouled Spruill, who knocked down two from the stripe. After the teams exchanged two more free throws each, Marshall missed a 3-point shot which was rebounded by Spruill.
His ensuing layup put the Seahawks up 85-76 with 10 seconds to play, sealing the win.
Marshall led the Flames with 24 points.
Shooting guard Jaylen Nowell, ranked No. 45 in the ESPN 100, chose the Washington Huskies on Wednesday over California. As a junior he led Garfield Heights to a state championship and was named MVP of the tournament.
